Risk management in management systems.

Currently Management Systems such as ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, BASC and some others, consider the first three steps of a Risk Management, considering:

It is of utmost importance to correctly go deeper into these steps, since, for example, in ISO systems, the starting point is an Understanding of the organization and its context, where this point is recommended to be included in the organization’s Strategic Planning at least annually, clearly identifying those internal and external issues that are relevant, first for its purpose and therefore, for the management system and the performance being addressed.

This is the list of economic crimes incurred in the last two years:

There are different tools to start this analysis, such as: Porter’s 5 Forces, carry out a complete Benchmarking or a SWOT Matrix (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats), as this does not give a preamble to get to the section that these systems ask us, mentioning it as: Actions to address risks and opportunities.

Although the ISO 31000 Standard provides exhaustive principles and guidelines to help organizations in their risk analysis and assessments, it does not provide a methodology as such, since there are many different methodologies applicable, depending on the complexity of the organizations, as well as the level of analysis to be carried out in each of their areas, products and services.

It is worthwhile to apply a complete Risk Management in organizations, to avoid situations that could jeopardize their purpose or minimize losses that can sometimes be catastrophic, as well as to participate in the different management systems in a more complete and professional way.
